Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in my Full VO Atlanta 2023 registration?
Your registration includes all main stage talks and panels, all breakout sessions, lunch on Friday and Saturday as well as Socials & Entertainment on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.
Where can I find my tickets?
This year we aren’t issuing online credentials or any kind of physical tickets. Our data from previous years has shown that engagement with online platforms for a physical conference is minimal, so we decided to skip paying a big corporation tens of thousands of dollars and put that money back into the conference experience.
What that means is that you’ll need to stop by the registration desk to grab your credentials when you arrive. We’ll check your name against our attendee list and have your pre-printed badge, swag bag, lunch tickets, and other conference materials ready for you when you get there.
Just stop by anytime from 3PM Thursday the 23rd at the entrance to the promenade/conference area and we’ll get you taken care of. And if you’re arriving late, or coming with a Saturday/Sunday ticket, you can stop by the Check-In Desk in the Exhibit Hall to pick up your badge and materials.
Where do I go to get my badge when I arrive?
After arriving at the conference, you will find a registration desk on the main promenade where you can pick up your badge and conference materials.
And if you’re arriving late, or coming with a Saturday/Sunday ticket, you can stop by the Check-In Desk in the Exhibit Hall to pick up your badge and materials.
If I'm not staying at the Hilton, how will I get to the conference?
We are pleased to announce that we have contracted a VO Atlanta-ONLY shuttle that will run Thursday throughout the afternoon/evening, Friday & Saturday early AM to 12:30 and 5:30 to late night, and Sunday early AM until after closing ceremonies. This shuttle will run every 30 minutes between all of the VO Atlanta partner hotels.
Will there be food served during the conference?
Lunch Friday & Saturday is included in your full registration. Lunch Friday OR Saturday is included on the two-day tickets. If you have a Kids Program ticket we will cater that program separately in the Kids Program area. Lunch will be buffet style on the promenade.
Note: we will do our best to control lines & crowding, but with a conference this size we highly encourage you to get there early if you want to avoid a wait and/or hunting for a table. Sessions will be expected to end promptly at 11:50AM to break for lunch, and they will be resuming promptly at 1PM. We have instructed the hotel to staff up and be efficient, but it may still be a bit of a scrum, so the earlier you are the better your chances of a nice, relaxing meal.
Will there be more coffee and beverage options this year?
We are excited to announce, there will be coffee and beverage stations located throughout the conference area, many sponsored by our generous talent sponsors, and lounges where you can rest in between sessions, have a sidebar meeting with a colleague or just enjoy a moment of quiet.
We hope this will cut down on past frustrations with waiting in line at the hotel café which can be understaffed at times. If you want a venti, iced mocha latte, half/calf, no whip, with raisins, and exactly TWO splashes of caramel, you’ll still have to hit the café, but we’re gonna keep you caffeinated if nothing else.
Are there any more rooms available at the Hilton?
Yes, there are room available at the Hilton, but they tend to sell out quickly. There are also rooms available at other hotels across the street and just down the block. The Embassy Suites, the LaQuinta Inn and The Drury Inn are a few of them you can try.
How long are the sessions?
Panels and Breakout sessions are 50 minutes long, unless otherwise noted in the program.
X-Sessions are 3 hours long.
Will there be a virtual option for the conference?
No, the VO Atlanta 2023 conference is in-person only.
Will the conference sessions be recorded for later viewing?
Yes, every Panel and Breakout Session will be recorded and access for future viewing is included with every ticket. X-Sessions, however, will not be recorded. Kids Sessions will not be recorded either.
What are X-Sessions?
X-Sessions are classes that are offered by some of our presenters during the four days of the conference. Each class is a 3-hour intensive and limited to 12 attendees or less. These sessions are an additional $199/each and happen along-side the general conference panels and breakout sessions.
Is there a schedule for what sessions are being offered?
Yes, a schedule is available under the SCHEDULE menu. It can be downloaded into Excel or Numbers (the Accessibility Version), or as a pdf of the book that appears on the screen. Keep in mind that changes to the schedule are happening throughout the buildup to the final published schedule, so definitely check back to make sure you have the latest information.
Is there a Friday/Saturday option that I can purchase?
No, there is no Friday/Saturday option. Friday and Saturday are the two core content days of the conference. Thursday is just opening activities. Sunday is just closing activities. The Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday options are meant for people who can only attend one of the core days.
I heard there will be an option for getting professional headshots at the event, is this true?
You asked, so we’re providing! We are thrilled to add the VO Atlanta Headshots Booth to this year’s event! Stop by the Exhibitor Hall in Chattahoochee, and have premiere Atlanta photographer Zach Deloach take some headshots for you, in a 10 to 15-minute private session. Zach is providing an exclusive rate of $75 to all VO Atlanta attendees, only available during the conference, that includes 2 fully edited images. Payments will be processed by Zach through PayPal, Venmo, CashApp or Square (3-4% additional fee on Square). Sessions will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, from Thursday to Sunday, so don’t miss out!
What is the Dress Code?
While VO Atlanta does not have a formal dress code, we encourage you to use your best judgment about what to wear for a professional industry conference. You do not need to wear suits (unless that’s what you’re comfortable wearing), and you definitely should consider having comfortable shoes.
Are there themes for the parties?
This year, VO Atlanta doesn’t have a theme for our evening activities. But should you wish to dress up, go for it! Our attendees have certainly worn fun and festive attire to shake it up on the dance floor!
Do I need to bring business cards?
Networking is an integral part of the VO Atlanta conference experience. To that end, having some business cards on hand for exchanging information with new friends and colleagues is great. It’s best not to simply hand out cards to everyone you meet – instead, ask before offering and keep in mind that many people don’t keep the cards they’re given and instead keep track of contacts digitally. Additionally, most casting directors and agents do not want your business card as they regularly get bombarded at these events from people wanting to be cast or signed, so wait to be asked before handing one over to people you’d like to hire you.
Are there separate Audiobook, Spanish and Kids Programs?
This year we’re excited to have the Audiobook and Spanish programs integrated into the regular conference schedule. We want to encourage anyone interested in these programs to check out panels, breakouts or XSessions with this content – we’re all one big voiceover family, not separate silos!
The KIDS Program is also back this year and is a separate track for our young voice over artists to learn from great presenters who are also part of the general conference content. This program will have its own rooms on the lower level of the hotel and a separate, kid-friendly lunch served on both days!
Who do we go to if we have a problem or an issue at the conference?
Anna and JMC have secured a great team of staff and volunteers to help out during the event. They are under instructions that your problems are their problems, and are there if you need them. We can’t promise that we’ll solve every issue that comes up, but we can promise to always listen respectfully, and do the best we can to make sure you have a great conference! And if JMC and Anna aren’t running around with their hair on fire (admittedly less risk for JMC on that) he and Anna will be happy to help in any way they can.
